Sunday afternoon I was updating our church’s web site as I do at the start of every week when I heard my phone beep to alert me to a new text message.
It’s February; for us here at Longleaf Breeze, that means it’s time for pruning many of our fruit trees.
We told you last week about our approach to longleaf pines here at Longleaf Breeze. Think of this week’s program as Longleaf Pine II.
Every year we plant about 300 longleaf pines. It’s relatively inexpensive, it’s fun, and we think it’s one of the best ways we can prepare our farm for the coming climate chaos.
I’d be kidding if I didn’t admit that the time of year I love the most for fruit orcharding is harvest time. Who could resist the joy of bringing in baskets of fresh sweet fruit to share with those we love?
