This week we enjoyed what we now believe is our last fire of the season in the wood stove in our home. That marks for us the transition from winter to summer, and it provides a splendid signpost for a retrospective on the season.
Starting out mild and delivering anemic chilling hours, the winter nevertheless demanded lots of heating, particularly in its waning months. Our home town of Tallassee was one of many where March was considerably colder than January. In keeping with our “looking back” theme, today’s program includes a review of the fall veg season as well.
