We are a little more than half way through our series of articles on our long-term strategy for food security here at Longleaf Breeze, so we thought this week’s podcast would be a good time to think through food issues.
Amanda’s bringing in baskets of food each day, and it’s stacking up, so we’re giving food away to somebody every day. We talk about what’s happening on Veg Hill and how it all fits in with our three principles.

Our Three Simple Principles – unchanged since we laid them out more than two years ago, long before Longleaf Breeze was our home.

Look into a varietal of Vitis aestivalis called Norton or Cynthiana: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norton_(grape). Good dry wine, quite unlike Muscadine. Norton/Cynthiana grow commercially in Missouri and Arkansas, and I suspect they could be grown in central Alabama too.
There are 244 Norton wineries in 23 states. At this time Alabama has four wineries producing wine from the Norton [Cynthiana] grape:
Hidden Meadows Vineyard (http://www.hiddenmeadowvineyard.com/) Jemison, AL
Ozan Vineyard and Cellars (http://www.ozanwine.com) Calera, AL
Whippoorwill Vineyards (http://www.whippoorwillvineyards.com/) Notasulga, AL
White Oak Vineyards (http://whiteoakal.com) Anniston, AL
